Dolphins loss not the end says Osas

Heartland forward, Jolly Osas said his side pre-season 1-2 loss to former champions, Dolphins will count as nothing when league hostilities start.

The encounter at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri on Sunday saw the Cup holders plunder their early lead to the Garden City side.

Former Sharks' forward, Bright Ejike got the lone goal for the Naze Millionaires in the first half while Dolphins scored twice at resumption of play.

Osas who cuts short his honeymoon for the uncertain Thursday's clash of the champions between his side and champions, Kano Pillars at the Liberation Stadium, Port Harcourt said its better to lose pre-season game than competitive game.

"The pre-season defeat to Dolphins is insignificant and won't affect our campaign in the coming season. It won't have any negative impact rather it has helped us to discover our shortcomings.

"Its purely a friendly encounter between two friendly teams, the essence to us is not to win rather for the coaches to have first impression of the team they're building for the season.

"Of course, it served a dual purpose of helping us to prepare for the crucial game against Kano Pillars. Even as we wait for confirmation of the game we've to take peremptory step.

"I think its better we lose to Dolphins in pre-season game than league match. When the season starts we'll surely pick back the points," he said.

The petite forward said his side are battle ready for the clash of champions against the Pyramid City side.

"We're ready for Pillars any day any time, they parade big names but the game will be played on the field and we'll survive their onslaught," he said.

Decisions at NPL congress on Tuesday will clarify lots of pending issues concerning the 2012/2013 league season.
