Omollo upbeat despite defeat

Sony Sugar FC head coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo was impressed with his team despite their 1-0 loss to fellow Tusker Premier League side Gor Mahia in a friendly at the Awendo Green Stadium on Saturday.

Speaking after the match, Omollo was in high spirits, saying the friendly had exposed his side’s weaknesses, which he will now work towards rectifying.

“I thank Gor Mahia for honouring our invite for this friendly match. It has been a good game and we’ve really enjoyed it and I’m sure it has been helpful to both teams,” Omollo said.

“Personally, I’ve noted several areas that we will need to work on as a team before the league resumes. Of particular concern to me is that we are losing the ball quickly. We do not possess it as I would love and we will have to improve on that.

“I’m glad that I used almost all my players in this friendly and I have therefore also noted their personal strengths and weaknesses and that will help me in picking a strong squad,” he added.

Omollo also revealed that the team will have three more friendly matches before the league resumes next month.
