Sony set to sign Izungu

Kenyan Premier League side Sony Sugar FC are set to sign Kenya Under-20 and Sparki Youth FC (Division One Zone A) forward Michael John Izungu.

Confirming the news, Sony head coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo said the youngster had impressed him during some training sessions and also during a friendly match against Provincial League side Borabu Chiefs FC played on Saturday.

“He is really talented and disciplined too. Those are the first things I look at in young players,” Omollo said.

“He has been very impressing in the few days he has trained with us and also played well in the friendly match against Borabu. We are going to sign him on a long-term contract,” he added.

Izungu, who previously had trials with top tier sides Bandari FC and KCB FC, said he is hopeful a deal can be concluded swiftly.

“It is my great wish to play in the top flight in the 2013 season so it will be pleasure to sign for Sony,” Izungu said.

“It is my hope that the paperwork will be finalised soon so that I can concentrate on my football. I want to take my career to the next level in 2013,” he added. Sony thrashed Borabu Chiefs 6-1 when they met at the Awendo Green Stadium.
