KCB appoint Abdalla as coach

Juma Abdalla has joined Kenyan Premier League club KCB.

The former Congo United coach is set to replace James Omondi as the Bankers’ coach for the 2013 season.

Juma spent the 2012 season at Division one side Bidco United, helping them to a second place finish in the second tier. KCB team manager Josephat Okal confirmed that they had indeed been in contact with Juma regarding the top job.

“We have been searching for a coach and have settled on Juma Abdalla. He has a good track record and experience that is hard to find in the coaching ring,” he said.

“Added to that is that he has a very good record of working with young players and had brought up many. We have a good number of players who are young and so need a coach who can nurture them. The job he did at Bidco United last season was excellent and so we hope that he can transform the club when he arrives here.”

Juma, on his part, hopes that he can do a good job at the club. “I am grateful to get the chance to perform here and at this level,” he said.

“The club approached me and told me they had a vision that they felt I could articulate. It was a good process and I have to say that I am impressed and hope that we can have a good relationship here.

“I have to thank everyone at Bidco United for the good year we had last season and hope they continue well in their journey. I hope that at KCB I will have similarly good memories.”

Abdalla last coached in the Premier League in 2011 at Congo who were later in the season relegated.
