Gordon says he knows Cape Verde

The South African national team coach, Gordon Igesund, is adamant he is aware of what Cape Verde will present in their opening 2013 African Cup of Nations match at the National Stadium on Saturday.

The 2013 continental show-piece gets underway on Saturday and despite not having seen Cape Verde play a live match, Igesund says his Bafana Bafana team are well prepared for their upcoming opponents.

“I have lot of information on them (Cape Verde), I have had a lot of professional people looking at them,” explains Igesund.

“I know about how they play, I know all their players, I have DVD’s of each of them. I have information of all their players.

“We have the best information we can get considering we haven’t seen them live.”

Looking at the game itself and the tournament as a whole, Igesund does not feel his team will need much motivation to do play at their best.

“I don’t think I am going to have to do too much of that (motivate). Playing in front of 90 000 people is motivation enough. Players are jumping out of their skin to play,” adds the coach before saying his team just needs to build momentum and they could go all the way.

“If we start scoring goals I think we can go all the way.

“Hopefully we get some momentum going and we can get the nation behind us. I think we can do it. I think we are very, very capable.”
