Double boost for Chiefs ahead of Ajax

Kaizer Chiefs will be boosted by the return to the squad on Tuesday of midfielder Reneiliwe Letsholonyane and defender Mulomowandau Mathoho, coach Stuart Baxter said on the eve of the game against Ajax Cape Town.

Letsholonyane is almost certain to regain his place in the starting line-up as Chiefs seek to keep up their slender lead in the Absa Premiership when they host the Capetonians at Polokwane on Tuesday.

He missed Chiefs’ last league game through suspension. Chiefs lost their unbeaten record at Platinum Stars in a 0-2 defeat.

Mathoho is back in the squad after a strained muscle injury.

“It is a boost as we already have some of our top players on the injury list. It can be difficult when you have most of your top players out injured and the return of both Tower and Yeye is a welcome boost,” Baxter said.

Mathoho told the Kaizer Chiefs website he was also delighted to be back in contention after missing the last game.

“It hurt to watch the team lose against Platinum Stars. That is now water under the bridge. We are all determined to bounce back against Ajax Cape Town. We want to start the festive season on a high note and it means we have to beat them,” he said.
