Oliver clocks season's best indoors

David Oliver of the United States clocked the fastest time in the world this season for the 60m hurdles when he ran 7.37sec at an IAAF indoor meet here on Saturday.

The 28-year-old, who was in superb form outdoors last year, had already set the season's previous fastest indoor time when he ran 7.40sec at the end of January in the US.

A bronze medallist at last year's world indoor championships in Doha, Oliver will square off against ex-world and Olympic champion Liu Xiang of China in the 60m hurdles at an IAAF indoor meet in Karlsruhe on February 13.

Oliver was the form hurdler of 2010, winning each of his 15 competitions while producing the five fastest times in the world.

A former world record-holder, Xiang, who took Olympic gold in 2004, the world title in 2007 and the world indoor 60m Hurdles title in 2008, will he among the headliners at an indoor meeting in Dusseldorf on Friday.

It will be his first appearance in Europe since the 27-year-old captured the World indoor 60m Hurdles title in Valencia in March 2008.
